AA Girls Basketball Districts Round One

Hey Everyone! First thanks for taking a look at my blog. It was a great night of "AA" girls basketball around the state of South Dakota. All the teams won that were suppose to win. By the way, I had them all picked right. The surprise of the night came at the OG gym; Brookings hung with them all the way to the end only to lose 44-37. The Knights will play SF Roosevelt in the district championship on Thursday night. They split the regular season, each winning on the other teams home court.

In District two it will be SF Washington and Yankton meeting at the Warrior gym for the District Championship on Thursday night. The talk before the game was about how Washington was going to get Mercede Stotesberry back in the lineup. She hurt her foot a couple of weeks ago in a regular season game. She played great and the Warriors rolled 57-29. ESPN 99.1 will carry the 3rd place game on Thursday between Lincoln and Brandon Valley from the Lynxs gym.

In District 3 the Mitchell Kernels will host the Aberdeen Golden Eagles on Thursday night at the Corn Palace. Huron will host Pierre for the 3rd place game.

In District 4 The RC Stevens Raiders will host the RC Cobblers on Thursday night. Stevens beat Sturgis 62-51 and Central defeated Spearfish 64-46 to set up the District 4 Championship from the Raiders gym.

We are one step closer to the state tournament in Brookings. .. Four teams will punch their ticket Thursday night to Frost Arena! Who will that be?  I want to hear from you. What do you think?

Its the boys turn on Tuesday, March 1st. Listen to ESPN 99.1 with Brad Peterson at 7:30pm for coverage of Lincoln and Yankton from the Patriots gym. We will also have scores from throughout the state to see who advances in the first round of "AA" boys action. Can O'Gorman repeat? Stay tuned...

South Dakota AA Girls Basketball 2010/11

Hi, Its Coach Les from ESPN 99.1 and KSOO 1140 in Sioux Falls, SD. Welcome to my blog, feel free to write to me and tell me what you think. It's my favorite time of year, its time to crown a high school state champ in both boys and girls basketball in the next couple of weeks! Do the Washington Warrior girls and the O'Gorman boys have what it takes to repeat?

The "second season" tips off tomorrow night (Monday, Feb 28th,11) around the state of South Dakota. Here are my picks for the first night. In District 1: OGorman beats Brookings and Roosevelt beats Watertown. District 2: Washington wins over Lincoln and Yankton squeaks past Brandon Valley. District 3: Mitchell handles Pierre and since Aberdeen Central is at home they beat Huron. District 4: RC Stevens takes down Sturgis and RC Central beats Spearfish.

It should be a great night of basketball around the state. Listen to 99.1 FM for up to the minute scores and play by play with Brad Peterson. Good luck to all the teams, players and coaches and their quest for a state title.

Looking forward to your feedback!
