Quarterfinal Round of High School football on ESPN 99.1 FM

Join ESPN 99.1 FM Monday (Oct 31st) for a triple header of high school football starting at 2pm with Brad Peterson and Jeff Fylling.

#8 Brookings Bobcats at #1 Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots   2:00pm

The Patriots are coming off the bye week looking to keep the momentum going off there emotional last second win the last week of the regular season at O'Gorman 29-28. The Bobcats are coming off there win vs RC Central in the first round of the playoffs 37-22 and hope to keep it going. These two teams met in week #7 with the patriots winning 45-15.

#7 Brandon Valley at  #2 Sioux Falls Roosevelt                5:00pm

The Rough Riders are coming off a bye the first round and lost to the Washington Warriors in the last game of the regular season 18-25. If the riders want to get into the semi-finals they will have to get off to a better start then they did against the Warriors. The Lynxs are coming off a first round win vs RC Stevens 42-14. The Lynxs controlled the game from the beginning and lead 28-0 at halftime. Matt Vandeberg broke things open with an incredible individual performance. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior scored four touchdowns and came up with three interceptions - all in span of about 14 minutes. The bigger question for the Lynxs is the health of senior Trevor Crow who had 102 yards on 11 carries all before halftime. He suffered a knee injury early in the second quarter and didn't return. The Lynxs have yet to face the Riders who were ranked #1 before their loss to the Warriors this season.

#5 Mitchell Kernels at #4 Sioux Falls Washington           8:00pm

The Washington Warriors are coming off a bye and a win in the last game of the regular season vs the Riders 25-18. The Kernels are coming off their first round win 42-14 over Aberdeen Central. They are lead by the Greenways. Jason Greenway rushed 16 times for 94 yards and scored on a 40-yard run. Justin Greenway added an 8-yard TD run. In a match up of two good offensive teams it might come down to who can stop who when the game is on the line.

#6 Yankton Bucks at #3 O'Gorman Knights                     6:30pm

The Knights are coming off the bye and a last second loss to the Patriots 29-28 in last game of the regular season. In that game the Knights lost halfback Flynn Donelan to a broken collarbone on the first offensive play from scrimmage. The question on every body's mind is he going to play? He does give O'Gorman another back to go with Sam Steffl who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown in their last game against the Patriots. The Bucks are coming off their win at home against Pierre 27-13. The last time these two teams met in the playoffs was for the 2005 state championship.

ESPN 99.1 will have scores from all the games with Jeff Harkness. Join us Monday, Oct 31st as we get one step closer to crowning a state high school football champion for the 2011 season. Also don't forget to vote on the poll who you think will win the 11AA state championship.
